Student of the Month

Angelo Mirigliano of the Central Penn Panthers is our DVHL Student of the Month. Angelo is the youngest brother of four siblings. His sister, Summer, is currently studying and playing hockey at West Point, and his two older brothers (EJ and James) are playing with the PA Huntsmen.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?
One of my favorite subjects is strength and conditioning, as it allows me to enhance my physical strength and overall health. I appreciate the science behind exercise and nutrition and enjoy challenging myself to reach new fitness goals. Pushing my limits and seeing real improvements in my strength and endurance is rewarding.

In addition, I am interested in military history, with a particular focus on the various aspects of warfare during World War II. I find it fascinating to study the technological advancements in aircraft, vehicles, and weapons that shaped the conflict. Learning about the strategic decisions made by leaders and how they affected the outcomes of battles helps me understand the complexities of history and the lessons it can teach us today.

Which recent project or assignment are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of a recent slide show I created about Ancient Greece. Exploring that time’s rich history and culture was a great opportunity. Additionally, I played a role in organizing a Veteran appreciation dinner in my JROTC class, which was a meaningful way to honor those who have served. Both projects allowed me to learn and contribute to something special.

What academic goals do you have?
I aim to earn admission to a military academy.

What are some hobbies or activities you enjoy?
I enjoy participating in airsoft when possible. Legos have always been one of my favorite activities.

What is one goal you are working towards outside of academics?
Outside of academics, I am working hard to help my Central Penn team make it to (AAHA) Districts and (hopefully, USA Hockey) Nationals. I’ve recently become a ref, and I hope to help keep the game going and inspire younger players to do the same.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned recently?
Sometimes, the best play is different from the right one.

How do you demonstrate perseverance when faced with a challenge?
I dive in and stay the course until it’s all completed!

What do you want to do in the future?
As a JROTC cadet, I am dedicated to positively impacting my community while preparing to serve my country. This program has instilled in me a strong sense of discipline, leadership, and teamwork, (which are) essential qualities for any future leader. After my time in JROTC, I plan to pursue a career as a financial professional. I have a deep passion for the stock and financial markets and am eager to learn more about investment strategies and economic trends. My goal is to leverage my knowledge and skills to help individuals and organizations make informed financial decisions.
