2026–27 DVHL Season Preview

Hatfield Ice Hawks

Development Today. Opportunity Tomorrow.

For the Hatfield Ice Hawks, success isn’t measured by the number of teams in the organization.

It’s measured by where players go next.

The Ice Hawks enter the 2026–27 DVHL season with a focused mission: provide developing hockey players with a competitive, encouraging, and fun environment where they can improve their skills and prepare for the next step in their hockey journey.

This season, Hatfield will field one 14U B team, bringing together returning players and newcomers at different stages of their development.

That combination will present challenges.

It will also create opportunities.

Because for the Ice Hawks, development has always come first.

An Important Step in the Pathway

The Ice Hawks occupy a unique place within the Hatfield hockey community.

The program serves as the next step for players graduating from the rink’s In-House program and traditionally competes at the B and A American levels.

From there, players have an opportunity to continue progressing into Genesis Hockey Club, which also calls Hatfield Ice home.

That relationship creates a clear developmental pathway.

Players can begin in recreational hockey, transition into the Ice Hawks to experience travel competition, and eventually advance into Genesis as their skills and experience grow.

The Ice Hawks don’t try to be everything to every player.

They understand their role — and embrace it.

One Team. One Opportunity.

For 2026–27, all eyes will be on the Ice Hawks’ 14U B team.

The roster will feature a combination of beginner players experiencing travel hockey and more advanced returning players who already understand the expectations of the program.

Bringing those groups together will be one of the biggest challenges of the season.

It may also become one of the team’s greatest strengths.

Experienced players will have opportunities to lead.

Newer players will be challenged to develop quickly.

And the coaching staff will need to create an environment where players with different experience levels can progress together toward a common goal.

If that happens, Hatfield believes the team can make significant strides throughout the season.

Two Leaders to Watch

Two returning players will be especially important to that process.

Graham Senigo and Jin Harrison enter the season as both players to watch and returning leaders for the Ice Hawks.

Their responsibility will extend beyond their individual performance.

With new players joining the team, returning veterans can help establish expectations, demonstrate how the Ice Hawks want to practice and compete, and help bring the roster together.

That leadership could be particularly important early in the season as the team begins developing its identity.

Structure Meets Creativity

The Ice Hawks want to play a style that reflects both sides of player development.

Defensively structured. Offensively creative.

Without the puck, players will be expected to understand their responsibilities, work together, and play within a structure.

With the puck, the Ice Hawks want players to think.

Create.

Make decisions.

And develop the confidence to try things.

That balance fits naturally with the organization’s larger philosophy.

Players need structure to understand the game.

But they also need the freedom to develop hockey sense and creativity.

The goal is to teach both.

Experience Behind the Bench

Continuity should help.

The Ice Hawks coaching staff returns intact for 2026–27, providing players and families with coaches who have spent several years within the organization and understand its developmental mission.

There are no new coaches joining the program this season.

Instead, Hatfield will rely on an experienced group that already understands what the Ice Hawks are trying to accomplish.

The coaching philosophy is straightforward:

Create a fun and competitive environment through player development.

That balance matters.

Players should be challenged.

They should be held accountable.

They should learn how to compete.

But they should also enjoy coming to the rink.

Especially for players taking their first steps into travel hockey, creating a positive experience can determine whether hockey becomes something they pursue for years to come.

An Opportunity for Everyone

One of the defining principles of the Ice Hawks program is accessibility.

Hatfield strives to create an environment where every player who wants to participate has a genuine opportunity to do so.

But opportunity doesn’t mean lowering expectations.

It means equal access to development, equal respect, and equal accountability.

The club’s core values reinforce that approach:

  • Respect.
  • Teamwork.
  • Sportsmanship.
  • Integrity.

Those values guide players and coaches on the ice, but the Ice Hawks believe their importance extends well beyond hockey.

“We believe the game is a vehicle for developing the whole person.”

It’s a philosophy that fits naturally with a program designed to help players take their next step.

The Road Leads to Genesis

The close relationship between the Ice Hawks and Genesis Hockey Club remains one of Hatfield’s greatest points of pride.

Both programs skate from the same facility, allowing the developmental progression to remain within the same hockey community.

For an Ice Hawks player, Genesis isn’t some distant program.

It’s the next opportunity.

That gives young athletes something tangible to work toward and provides the Ice Hawks with a clear measure of success.

When players improve enough to advance, the program has done its job.

The long-term vision is to continue fielding teams that provide those opportunities and prepare players to make that transition successfully.

Circle the Quakers

Development may come first, but that doesn’t mean the Ice Hawks don’t enjoy a rivalry.

When the schedule arrives, there’s one opponent Hatfield immediately notices:

The Quakers.

Those games bring a little extra energy and another opportunity for the Ice Hawks to test themselves against a familiar opponent.

And if the season provides an opportunity for another memorable trip, there is another tradition close to the organization.

Lake Placid.

The Ice Hawks’ Lake Placid tournament experiences remain among the club’s proudest traditions, combining hockey competition with the kind of memories and friendships that make youth sports special.

Coming Together

Ultimately, the story of the 2026–27 Hatfield Ice Hawks will be determined by one thing:

Unification.

One team will bring together returning veterans and players who are just beginning their travel hockey experience.

They won’t all start the season at the same place.

They’re not supposed to.

The objective is to see where they can go together.

If returning players embrace leadership, new players gain confidence, and the entire roster commits to developing as one team, the Ice Hawks believe success will follow.

Some of that success may appear on the scoreboard.

The more important part will be visible in the players themselves.

Better skaters.

Smarter hockey players.

Stronger teammates.

More confident young athletes.

And, for some, players ready to take their next step into Genesis Hockey Club.

That’s what the Hatfield Ice Hawks are built to do.

What to Watch in 2026–27

Progress.

The Ice Hawks aren’t trying to define themselves by the size of their organization or the number of teams they put on the ice.

Their role is different.

Take players who are ready for the next challenge. Introduce them to competitive travel hockey. Give them quality coaching and an opportunity to develop. Then prepare them for whatever comes next.

For many, that next step will be Genesis Hockey Club.

And every Ice Hawk who makes that transition represents another success for a program built specifically to help players move forward.
