The 2024–25 season was a remarkable one for the Wilmington Nighthawks 18U AA squad, as they battled through a competitive schedule to claim the DVHL Championship. Finishing the regular season with a strong 4–2–0 record and securing second place, the Nighthawks proved themselves to be a resilient and high-scoring team. Their season featured exciting victories, including a 5–4 home win over Snider Hockey and an impressive 8–5 triumph over Genesis Hockey Club. Even in close defeats, the Nighthawks displayed determination and skill, preparing them for a successful playoff run.
The Wilmington Nighthawks’ balanced offensive attack was led by Nicholas Aversa, who paced the team with 7 points, including a team-high 5 assists in just 6 games. Gerald DiStefano added consistent production with 6 points, showing a knack for contributing in key moments, while Dominic Blue provided scoring punch with 4 goals and 2 assists for 6 points. Anthony McGonigle and Alexander Losacco each chipped in 5 points, giving the Nighthawks multiple scoring threats throughout the lineup. On the back end, Jack Tanton anchored the defense with 6 points from the blue line, while goaltender Brock Reid stood tall in net, earning 4 wins and providing steady play that helped carry the team to their championship run.
In the playoffs, the Nighthawks rose to the occasion, facing Genesis Hockey Club in the championship matchup. Their outstanding 2024-25 DVHL All-Stars, whose skill, dedication, and hard work were instrumental in the team’s success this season. Nicholas Aversa earned All-League honors with his consistent offensive production and playmaking ability. First Team selections included Dominic Blue, whose scoring touch made him a constant threat, Ryan Winters, a steady and reliable force on the blue line, and Brock Reid, whose strong play in goal backstopped the Nighthawks to a championship. Second Team honors went to Liam Bell, a versatile forward who contributed in all situations, and Grayson Betterly, a dependable defenseman who brought stability and grit to the back end.
